SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED for 2024 since all of the available slots have been filled as of Feb 29. Students are still eligible to apply as fee-paying participants, the same as Post-Docs and Others, in which case advisor letters of support are not required. Verification of graduate student status is required to receive the graduate student rate. Proof of US graduate student status can be a letter from the advisor or a copy of a transcript.
Scholarships are available to US-based graduate students. Applications will be evaluated as they are received, with preference given on the basis of timing (apply early!), financial need, and potential benefit of attending the Institutes. Funding for scholarships is provided by a grant from the National Science Foundation and is limited, so awards are not guaranteed for all applicants. We intend to fund up to 100 Scholarships with NSF support, so please apply early to be sure to receive one!
Scholarship applicants will be asked to provide a Letter of Support from their advisor, which must include a statement indicating how their participation will advance their training, for example stating that similar material is not available at their university, and indicating what federal grant or other source of funding (please be specific!) will be used to supplement their attendance if necessary.
WHAT DOES YOUR SCHOLARSHIP INCLUDE
Tuition & Housing
Each scholarship will cover tuition and dormitory accommodation at Georgia Tech (only if needed!) for a maximum of three consecutive modules. In case the modules are not consecutive, housing for the extra nights will have to be paid for by the participant ($70.49 per night incl tax).
If accommodation is needed, each scholarship will cover dormitory accommodation at Georgia Tech starting the night before the first day of the selected first module through the day when the last selected module ends.
You are welcome to apply and register for more than three modules at your own cost ($500 per module plus housing).
Travel
We will provide up to $500 toward travel expenses for participants outside of Atlanta, payable as reimbursement after completion of your attendance and after you submit receipts for your travel expenses.
WHAT DOES YOUR SCHOLARSHIP NOT INCLUDE
If you prefer not to use the Georgia Tech dormitory accommodation, please let us know so that we can help you identify another option off campus that you would need to pay for from your own sources, and so that we can potentially fund additional students.
Your scholarship does not cover any meals.
OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS
Please note that you CANNOT apply for modules that run at the same time! Be aware of module dates!
Please find information regarding dormitories and meal plans here.
Applications received later than May 15 will not be eligible for Scholarship support.
The fee for graduate students who do not receive a Scholarship will be $500, plus board and travel.
