After 28 years in Raleigh and Seattle, the Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics moved to Atlanta in 2024. Georgia Institute of Technology, in partnership with Emory University and the Atlanta University Center Consortium, proudly hosts the next phase of SISG, now named in the honor of founding Director Bruce Weir.

The first SISG in Atlanta was held May 29-June, 2024. Information about the 2025 event will be posted when available.
INFORMATION ABOUT SISG 2025 WILL BE PUBLISHED BY NOVEMBER 2024. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON AND/OR SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER (BELOW).

The Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics (SISG) introduces geneticists to modern methods of statistical analysis and statisticians to the challenges posed by modern genetic data. The goal of SISG is to strengthen the statistical and genetic proficiency and career preparation of scholars from all backgrounds, especially those from groups historically underrepresented in STEM such as racial and ethnic minority groups, low income, first generation college students, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQ groups.

The Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics (SISG) has introduced geneticists to modern methods of statistical analysis and statisticians to the challenges posed by modern genetic data. As before, a series of 20 modules, each two-and-a-half days long, will be held in five sessions with four streams each according to the schedule below.

For most US resident graduate students, we will provide scholarships covering tuition and lodging in campus dormitories and some travel support.  Fees for post-docs, industry scientists and others are also listed under the About tab above, including early-bird offerings for those who register prior to April 15th
